Eye Health
Information about eye health: eye diseases, therapies & preventive eye care. Visiting this page cannot replace a visit to an eye doctor.
Counselling and services
For many years, the Austrian Association Supporting the Blind and Visually Impaired has focused on providing information and raising awareness about eye health. Our team supports you with applications (e.g., care allowance), advises on assistive devices, and provides practical tips for everyday life. All services are free for our members.
Information and awareness
When patients receive a diagnosis such as "dry AMD" or "glaucoma," they often are not sure what it means. Important questions may only arise after they have left the ophthalmologist’s office.
Information can help patients understand and come to terms with their condition. Knowing what an initially unfamiliar term means enables people to better engage with possibletherapies and their implications.
We also highlight patients' rights, such as what to do if a necessary therapy is not covered by health insurance.
